Western Australia

About the program

The Local Buying Program has been established to support local communities by helping small businesses to engage with BHP as a supplier.

The LBP has been operating successfully in Queensland and New South Wales where we’ve supported local suppliers for the past 5 years. Currently there are more than 850 suppliers registered in the program and the LBP has provided work opportunities for over AU$135 million to these. Last year the program offered more than to 5,500 work opportunities with 86% of these successfully awarded to local businesses.

To further support small businesses, the Local Buying Program is now being established in Western Australia. The decision to expand the program was based on the success in Queensland and New South Wales and will provide Western Australian businesses with access to a dedicated buying platform, better payment terms and support through local C-Res Business Engagement Advisors.
