To register for, and then work with the Local Buying Program in Western Australia, suppliers must have a significant physical presence in one of the following shires:
- Town of Port Hedland
- Shire of Ashburton
- Shire of East Pilbara
All WAIO operations, including operational, rehabilitation and project sites, are able to engage suppliers through the Local Buying Program. These include:

- BHP Ore Care Repair Shop – Mooka
- BHP Finucane Island Terminal
- BHP South Flank
BHP Nickel West – NiW
To register for, and then work with the Local Buying Program in Western Australia, suppliers must have a significant physical presence in one of the following shires:
- City of Kalgoorlie – Boulder
- Coolgardie Shire Council
- Shire of Leonora
- Shire of Menzies
- Shire of Wiluna
Nickel West operations, including operational, rehabilitation and project sites, are able to engage suppliers through the Local Buying Program. These include:
- Mt Keith Mine
- Leinster Mine
- Kalgoorlie Smelter
- Kambalda Concentrator
