BHP regularly source Pilbara inspired fishing shirts for events, such as Family Days, and achievements for BHP employees such as reduced recordable injury milestones and other celebrations.
Spooled Out is a local Port Hedland business which launched during Covid when owner and director, Callum Stevens, saw the difficulty for supply chain of these types of products and recognised a market. Spooled Out started an online store, offering custom-made unique Pilbara designs, and since registering as a supplier with the Local Buying Program (LBP), has grown rapidly.
So far Spooled Out have created thousands of custom designed fishing shirts specifically for BHP. The most recent order from BHP was for the South Flank Family Day event was the largest work instruction to date seeing Spooled Out create 4,300 units of customised fishing shirts and kid’s high vis work shirts.
“The end result is a quality custom garment that lasts and is a one-of-a-kind design that is exactly what BHP have requested. It’s great to see so many of our shirts around town worn by BHP employees and their families. The Program has had a massive impact on our business not only financially but also by displaying our quality products on a large scale.”
