The Local Buying Foundation and BHP are seeking Expressions of Interest for eligible service providers who can work with authority and understanding with Indigenous businesses within the Upper Spencer Gulf and Far North regions, including Adelaide, to deliver the South Australia Indigenous Business Support Program “Trading Tracks”.
7 August 2023
The Indigenous Business Support Program, known as Trading Tracks, is an exciting project that will be delivered in some of the Upper Spencer Gulf and Far North regions in South Australia as a partnership with the Local Buying Foundation and BHP.
This new project is closely aligned with the stakeholders’ collective values and commitment to creating strong resilient Indigenous businesses.
For the past three years the Local Buying Foundation, with the support of BHP and external stakeholders, have been developing and delivering a National Indigenous Business Support Program to enhance the economic participation of locally based, small-to-medium Indigenous and Traditional Owner businesses in the areas in which the Local Buying Foundation operates.
The objective of the program is to create sustainable Indigenous businesses by building capability and capacity and providing sound business support. Trading Tracks intent is to fill business development gaps, rather than duplicating or replacing other current (or potential future) business support services provided by either government, PBCs, NGO or private service providers.
LBF Chair, Melissa Westcott said this initiative will make a difference to Indigenous businesses in these SA regions.
“Trading Tracks is an original and innovative Indigenous business support program that will provide a range of direct, referral and facilitated support where it is needed across all Indigenous businesses at all stages of business development.
The SA Local Buying Foundation is proud to be partnering again with BHP to appoint a service provider in South Australia replicating successful partnerships in Qld and WA.”
Trading Tracks has been operating in Queensland since 2022 and has recently appointed a service provider in Western Australia.
Expressions of Interest are now open for suitable organisations to be involved in the select tender for the delivery of the three-year pilot Trading Tracks program in SA.
Suitable organisations are local Indigenous organisations, partnerships with Indigenous corporations or companies, existing Indigenous support service providers. To be eligible for funding the lead organisation cannot be a commercial business or government organisation, however these organisation are encouraged to ‘think outside the box’ and partner with eligible organisations.
EOI’s will close on the 25 August 2023, following this, organisations will be identified to proceed to the tender stage. The Local Buying Foundation reserves the right to withdraw the EOI or tender at any stage.
