The NPI and Engineering departments identified an opportunity to source a suitable supplier via the Local Buying Program (LBP) to perform the resurfacing works on Olympic Way. The resurfacing was required to minimalise any disruption to supply of goods and ensure safe travel for personnel to Olympic Dam Operations.
BHP personnel reached out to the LBP team to work together on a Request For Quote opportunity for Traditional Owner and Indigenous Businesses to submit quotes for this substantial piece of work.
Utilising the LBP portal for procurement gives BHP sites access to a reliable and capable list of suppliers who can deliver purchasing solutions in a timely and cost effective manner. There is also range of local Traditional Owner and Indigenous Businesses for Olympic Dam buyers to engage with through the LBP. By registering with the Local Buying Program, the supplier’s profile has been lifted which enables increased engagement opportunities in the future.
Site engaging with a growing local Indigenous business has produced great outcomes, excellent collaboration between all parties, and built key business relationships for buyer and supplier. This in turn is contributing to a stronger and more resilient local business community.
“C-Res is a great medium between WBE and BHP. The LBP portal is easy to navigate, from receiving tender documents and requesting information, to adding responses with quotes and processing claim submissions. C-Res staff have always been helpful and replied in a timely manner” said David Bear, Director of WBE.
