NATIONAL: Good news tops a great year for C-Res and LBP – from the Chair

By Darryl Camilleri

C-Res ended FY20 on a high note, with some great news for the C-Res team.  After months of negotiations and scrutiny, the board recently signed off on 2 new contracts, extending our arrangements with BHP.

Why two contracts?  Because we now have one with just BMA, and a second contract which covers all other entities in the group that operate across Australia.

This development goes a long way to giving us (and our LBP suppliers) some surety for the next three years, with an option for another two.

To give you some insight into the detail of these contracts, both of these documents are about 400 pages each, because our policy documents also had to be annexed.

Because we have a very different relationship to a standard vendor, it has been a long journey to get to this point.

It has been a massive year – and on top of it all we reached an incredible milestone, of $500 Million in approved spend. That is half a billion dollars which has or will be  pumped into the communities across the Pilbara, Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs and the Upper Spencer Gulf, the Upper Hunter regions of New South Wales and throughout the Bowen Basin and greater Isaac, Whitsunday, Mackay and Central Highlands regions.

It has been a big year, but mostly a great year.

So, a big thank you to BHP – this new contract is a great vote of confidence in the work we do and the C-Res team. Thanks also to our CEO, Tracey Cuttriss-Smith, who has been jointly negotiating this and doing her day to day work, and my fellow board members who I bugged with long winded emails.  It was a long and often arduous process, but it was worth it.
