As part of the Smart Transformations Project, commissioned by BMA, Futureye held two Community Forums in Dysart and Moranbah in February. The first of their kind to be held in the region, the forums aimed to help people prepare themselves, their families and their businesses for change right now, as well as planning for the future.
The forums included workshops on diverse topics to assist individuals, businesses, and community organisations to get ready and develop real plans to future-proof the towns.
To support the project’s roll out in Dysart and Moranbah, Smart Transformation Advisory Councils have been formed with a range of Dysart and Moranbah community members. STAC members provide local insight and guidance in the process.
Moranbah Smart Transformation Advisory Council member, Sean Milfull, who is General Manager of BMA’s Goonyella Riverside Mine, said: “The Smart Transformation community forums are a new approach to regional development”.
The event presented an excellent opportunity to discuss elements of business planning not often considered, and participants were also quizzed on how confident they were in dealing possible changes which might present.
