In November, C-Res and BHP partnered to host BHP Olympic Dam’s first Meet the Buyer event.
Held at the PAT Centre in the administration area of Olympic Dam, key suppliers from Roxby Downs and throughout the Far Northern and Upper Spencer Gulf regions were able to network with BHP Buyers on their turf.
BHP Head of Supply, Nathan Flaman, opened the event with an endorsement of the Local Buying Program and encouraged BHP buyers to recognise the importance of supporting small businesses in our regions.
C-Res Chair, Kylie Porter, followed with an overview of the C-Res and LBP journey and spoke about the impact of the program on small, often Mum and Dad businesses in the regions we operated in.
A series of workshops were conducted by key BHP, C-Res and GMUSG leaders; covering OCETs and CMF, Work Instructions through the LBP portal, social media marketing and trends for small businesses and opportunities for small businesses in the broader Upper Spencer Gulf.
The event was a great success, evidenced by significant increase in business generated through the LBP since the event and in accelerated engagement by both BHP buyers and suppliers in this region.
