2019 was the epitome of the phrase ‘time flies when you’re ticking off milestones’. Although, certainly, it was a lot of fun as well!
With lots to celebrate, BHP and C-Res partnered to host End of Year Stakeholder Events for community stakeholders, Local Buying Program Suppliers and BHP, BMA, and BMC.
In early December, events were held in Blackwater, Moranbah and Mackay, presenting a great opportunity for C-Res and BHP to come together and celebrate the community partnerships and achievements the two organisations have etched up during 2019.
In Blackwater, attendees were able to experience a traditional smoking ceremony as part of the Welcome to Country from the Ghungalou Traditional Owners. Following this was a series of presentations from BMA Blackwater General Manager Tom Ryan, C-Res CEO Tracey Cuttriss-Smith, Local Buying Foundation Chair Kristy Marks, and Business Support Officer for Central Highlands Development Corporation Mary Ryan.
Moranbah was also a successful evening, with a Welcome to Country from Barada Barna Traditional Owners and presentations from BMC Poitrel’s Jayson Smeeton, C-Res Chair Kylie Porter, Kristy Marks and Moranbah State High School Felicity Roberts.
The last event for the year was in Mackay on December 13 at the C-Res head office in Mackay. With coffee in hand, attendees heard presentations from guest speakers, BMC Poitrel’s Thomas Rigby, Kylie Porter, Local Buying Foundation Chair Kristy Marks and Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce’s Emma Murphy.
These events were great opportunities for Local Buying Program suppliers and BHP, BMA and BMC to have the chance to meet and celebrate what has been a huge year – while looking forward to what promised to be an incredible 2020!
