Local businesses shine at the 2025 Tactic Conference & Trade Expo

The 21st Tactic Conference & Trade Expo held in Port Augusta was more than just a gathering of industry leaders. It was a celebration of local enterprise, collaboration and opportunity. With over 700 delegates in attendance, the two day event connected regional suppliers with major projects across mining, energy, renewables, infrastructure and defence sectors.

As platinum sponsor, the Local Buying Foundation proudly supported the event by offering sponsored delegate tickets to selected Port Augusta-based businesses. This initiative was designed to remove barriers for small suppliers and ensure they could participate meaningfully in one of the region’s most anticipated industry events.

The Local Buying Program Supplier’s booth was a standout feature of the expo, not only showcasing our commitment to regional development but also hosting a dedicated pop-up space for local suppliers. Businesses that took part included:

  • Footners Electrical & Civil Services
  • PA&CI Martins Civil
  • Bentleys Cabin Park
  • Deon McHugh Signs
  • Crossroads Game Meats

These suppliers had the chance to network with industry leaders, engage with BHP representatives, and explore new business opportunities. Their presence added vibrancy and authenticity to the booth, reinforcing the value of local participation in large-scale events.

The Local Buying Foundation’s involvement extended beyond sponsorship. The Foundation’s Advisory Committee, made up of representatives from BHP, Regional Development Australia Far North, UniHub Spencer Gulf and Tactic, played a key role in shaping the event’s direction and ensuring it aligned with regional needs

By sponsoring tickets and creating space for local suppliers, the Local Buying Program, together with the Local Buying Foundation demonstrated its commitment to inclusive economic development. These actions not only empowered small businesses to engage with major projects but also strengthened the region’s supply chain resilience. The success of this initiative highlights the importance of removing participation barriers and ensuring that local voices are heard and seen at industry events.
