Competitive purchasing for Prominent Hill

The Village and Facilities Management team at Prominent Hill needed new vinyl and leather chairs, but sourcing competitively in a remote location can be challenging. To ensure value for money and timely delivery, a Request for Quote was released through the BHP Local Buying Program to local suppliers across the South Australian regions. Eighteen suppliers were invited to quote, resulting in five high‑quality responses and a strong competitive field.

The Local Buying Program’s Request for Quote feature enabled Prominent Hill to run a fair and efficient competitive process and receive multiple comparable quotes. The approach ensured the site secured the best price and service available, while also supported a local business in the region. This helps to establish new relationships between Prominent Hill teams and local suppliers, broadening purchasing options and helping to lift efficiency across the wider supply chain.
