In a significant step toward fostering local economic growth, BHP has partnered with the Goldfields Aboriginal Business Chamber (GABC) to support and assist Aboriginal businesses across the Goldfields region. This partnership aims to create a culturally safe capability-building program that provides opportunities for engagement and procurement.
Kristy Foale-Hickmott, C-Res Business Development Principal, regularly works from the GABC office in Kalgoorlie to provide consistent support for Local Buying Program (LBP) Indigenous Suppliers and GABC members seeking to expand their business opportunities with BHP.
C-Res, in collaboration with BHP and GABC, is aiming to enhance the capabilities of local Indigenous businesses; ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to thrive in a competitive market. Ultimately the goal is to nurture and increase capability and capacity of local Indigenous businesses in the Goldfields region.
The Local Buying Program is providing a simplified entry level BHP Procurement platform with face-to-face customer service, guidance and support from C-Res; facilitating meaningful engagement and building sustainable business relationships. Through these efforts, BHP and GABC are empowering Indigenous businesses, paving the way for long-term success and community prosperity.
Almetra Bethlehem, General Manager GABC said “Kristy’s proactive support, visiting and working from our GABC Office ensures that our members receive continuous guidance and assistance, thereby simplifying the supplier onboarding process with the BHP Local Buying Program, making it straightforward and accessible. Her commitment to empowering local Aboriginal businesses through the Local Buying Program is commendable, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to maximise opportunities for our members.”
