West Carpentry & Maintenance are a locally owned and operated family business delivering building construction and maintenance services to Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs and Andamooka. They were onboarded to the BHP Local Buying Program in January 2024, and have just completed a four stage project for the Surface Electrical Team, with more work currently in progress at Olympic Dam.
The scope included the installation of two office complexes involving construction of first and second fix framework, cladding, flushing and painting works. They provided building services in collaboration with the Surface Electrical Team who conducted the electrical component of this scope. By completing these works collaboratively, the works were delivered safely, ahead of schedule and at a reduced cost to BHP.
This engagement is not only supporting this local business and their young family, but also other local companies have been engaged for materials and goods to execute the project, providing economic benefits within the whole community.
“West Carpentry have lived in the local region for over 20 years, and through the support of BHP, we have been able to support our young family through in-direct employment and direct business opportunities.”
