Locally supplied goods is the icing on the cake for OS IWD

BHP and Operation Services recognise diversity and inclusion in their policies, including parental leave and flexible working options. BHP are committed to providing an environment in which everyone feels included and is treated fairly and with respect, which maximises employee’s potential.

As a workplace that champions this, sometimes, its good to come together in a team and celebrate what International Women’s Day (IWD) really means – with the purple cupcakes!

It can sometimes be a challenge for BHP to support small businesses – prior to the Local Buying Program the only options were setting up a supplier as a vendor, often time consuming and costly for small businesses or paying with a credit card which registered as off contract spend and did not contribute to relevant spend targets.

The Local Buying Program made it easy for BHP to engage local supplier, Tasty Typography, for 156 cupcakes for the Operation Services team in Mackay. From supplier registration, to purchase order and supply to final payment; the entire process happened within three weeks.

“Shoutout to all the amazing ladies out there – your strength and contributions are invaluable. And a big thank you to everyone who supports our little local business!”
Ashley Black | Owner, Tasty Typography
