Competitive Work Instructions result in positive local outcomes

The Request for Quote (RFQ) and Request for Tender (RFT) competitive Work Instructions (WIs) have been effective procurement tools for buyers and suppliers. Buyer Nick Duggan created a RFQ WI to supply road base material at Saraji Mine as he was looking for a capable local supplier to fulfill the requirements.

The RFQ work opportunity was released to over 53 suppliers to view and respond via the Local Buying Program portal. From the responses provided on the portal, Nick was able to assess the capability and competitiveness of local suppliers registered with the program. Nick was then able to inform local supplier, Quarries of Queensland, they were successful and could be engaged to complete the work.

“There are a lot of smaller local businesses that offer great products and services which we don’t always have access to through our normal procurement processes. It’s great to be able to tap into these resources and support local businesses at the same time.”
