BHP Buyer Kira Lacey took social value a step further by engaging a local small business to assist with decorating the venue with rainbow balloons in celebration of Pride Week for BHP. Acknowledging celebrations such as Pride Week creates an environment where diversity is the norm and making the necessary changes to ensure the wellbeing of every employee.
Enchanted Creations has a well established working relationship with BHP after delivering quality products and friendly service consistently through the Local Buying Program. This has created the opportunity to develop a great business reputation and trustworthy service provision to BHP.
Enchanted Creations business owner Rene Davies said that since registering with the LBP she has been able to create numerous nappy cakes for employees that had welcomed a new baby into their family, and stuffed balloons filled with goodies. She had also assisted in helping three of the BHP Rail areas celebrate and participate in special events such as Ramadan, Breast Cancer Awareness Week, RUOK Day, NAIDOC Week and Pride Week.
“We here at WAIO Rail Ops share the belief and value that every person deserves to be accepted, heard, seen and treated equally – without exception. We continue to create an environment where diversity is the norm and create the change we wish to see.”
