Collaboration solves procurement set-backs

The Facilities Maintenance teams at Nelson Point, Finucane Island and surrounding Port Hedland operations were facing challenges in completing planned tasks due to supply hold-ups and transportation related damages. These issues led to job cancellations or delays until new materials were delivered to replace the damaged ones.

Recently, the C-Res Business Development Team sat down with the maintenance crews to address these concerns. On-site training offered valuable insight into navigating the portal and utilizing the Supplier Directory for finding small, local and Indigenous businesses. Participants learned to create Work Instructions and release them for evaluating local business capacity and capabilities.

Problem-solving was a crucial part of these discussions, with solutions and concerns shared amongst the team. At the conclusion of training, BHP Buyers walked away with increased knowledge and understanding of Local Buying Program and how the portal can make their jobs easier. “We are very excited about the BHP / C-Res partnership and growing the relationship through consistent C-Res presence on site. The Local Buying Program allows us to execute work in a timelier manner whilst supporting local businesses. It’s a win-win.” Dana Dadour – Social Value Specialist, Site Infrastructure, BHP.
