Safety first! Dedication to keeping personnel out of harm’s way, especially when it comes to working near operating machinery or other areas with potential hazards, remains a top priority out on site. That’s why BHP collaborated with Local Buying Program supplier, HNA Group, to develop an innovative solution: remote controlled tracked devices fitted with HD cameras and support equipment.

These devices allow site to assess danger from a safe distance by providing clear visuals of what’s happening beneath the machines while they’re running. Custom-made GoPro kits come complete with 3D printed mounts and multiple accessories, offering ease of use in these critical operations. Also being utilised, PTZ cameras with WiFi displays and excellent optical zoom capabilities for enhanced clarity.  These remote control track devices have been specifically designed for navigating uneven ground, providing valuable insights while keeping team members safe.

This successful project has led to further improvements, such as the development of a 24-volt DC power module used for testing circuits while machines are locked out. This solution has already been replicated across several sites, showcasing the power of collaboration between local small businesses and BHP site teams.
