BHP Kambalda Concentrator required the supply of a light vehicle for site usage, and to purchase the vehicle locally for the benefit of supporting local business and for the availability of servicing and parts. The vehicle also required BHP specification. A Work Instruction was raised by site on the Local Buying Program portal, with scope detailing the type of vehicle required.
The local Toyota dealer was able to provide the vehicle required as specified and within budget. New Local Buying Program supplier Goldfields Toyota, is registered for the Program in Nickel West, and is based in Kalgoorlie. This provided the opportunity for BHP Kambalda Nickel Concentrator to engage with a local business through the Local Buying Program portal.
The Local Buying Program has provided site an opportunity to engage with a supplier that has had limited previous engagements at this level with BHP. The engagement has provided commercial and social benefit as the spend stays local and contributes to sustainability of the regional business community.
“It’s great to see the vehicle purchase staying local and keeping the business in Kalgoorlie.” Goldfields Toyota.
