Trying to source a wide variety of goods and services in remote and regional areas is quite often difficult and poses problems with delivery time frames and of course, freight logistics. The Harvey Norman store in Port Hedland is locally owned and operated. Daniel Evans, who has owned the store for approximately three years but lived elsewhere, took the chance to move to Port Hedland. Living locally now gives him the opportunity to learn firsthand how to meet local demand and run the store more effectively.
Harvey Norman was recently requested to supply a range of goods to the Port Operations team at Nelson Point to fit their office space. The store was able to fill the order completely, and have goods delivered to site within the required timeframe.
- A lot of new product lines have been introduced (or are in transit to the store) which has afforded more residents and local businesses the opportunity to purchase locally.
- C-Res Business Development Advisors in Port Hedland have been working closely with Daniel to provide training so that he understands the quoting process and how to submit claims on the Local Buying Program portal.
- The LBP allows buyers to directly engage with a local store rather than shipping from a Metro store, which facilitates the quick turnaround on urgent goods and reduces time delays.
“The Local Buying Program portal is so easy to navigate and takes all of the guess work out of quoting and keeping up with orders” said Daniel Evans, owner of Harvey Norman, Port Hedland.
