NAIDOC Week 2022 – Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

The 2022 NAIDOC week was celebrated by C-Res staff across the country to bring to life this year’s NAIDOC theme – Get up! Stand up! Show up! NAIDOC week was a chance to come together and celebrate the stories, cultures and achievements of First Nations people.

Our Western Australian team enjoyed the opportunity to attend the Spinifex Hill Studio NAIDOC community event.  The event featured traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait dancing and singing, handprint painting and lunch included kangaroo tails and damper.  It was a fantastic opportunity to be out amongst the Port Hedland community and participate in the celebrations.

Our Mackay team joined BHP at the Mackay NAIDOC community event, where Indigenous businesses utilised time to speak one-on-one with LBP representatives and learn more about how LBP works with Indigenous businesses in the region and how we are connecting them with BHP.  We also attended the Trading Tracks NAIDOC Breakfast event, which was very well attended by local businesses. It proved to be an awesome opportunity to connect with more members of our local Indigenous community and celebrate NAIDOC week with our suppliers and stakeholders.

Indigenous businesses in our regional communities are vibrant, resourceful, and looking for opportunities to engage with larger organisations. The Local Buying Program proudly supported this year theme Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! whilst maintaining our commitment to respect, integrity, empathy, and trust with our TOIB community.
