BHP’s Yandi Mine recently identified an opportunity to support a local business through the Local Buying Program as there was no standing supply agreement with a grout manufacturer.
The BHP Yandi Mine Fixed Plant Maintenance Team raised a Request for Quote (RFQ) Work Instruction through the Local Buying Program targeting local bulk material suppliers.
The RFQ Work Instruction received three competitive responses, and all suppliers were able to meet the requested delivery date. Globe Hill Engineering KBSS JV, a BHP verified Traditional Owner LBP approved supplier, successfully quoted on the supply opportunity.
There is a range of local Indigenous businesses for Yandi Mine site to engage with through the LBP. Site now have access to a reliable and capable LBP Supplier for ongoing supply of the required grout.
By registering for the Local Buying Program, the supplier has been able to diversify their engagement with BHP and broaden their visibility across BHP sites.
BHP are actively supporting a growing local Indigenous business, and fostering a new business relationship.
Additionally, securing the services of small, local businesses contributes to the sustainability of the regional community in which BHP operates.
