Expanding the Local Buying Program to new BHP sites at Carrapateena and Prominent Hill is unlocking significant opportunities to streamline procurement while maximising local spend.
Recently, a BHP Buyer at Carrapateena needed to secure accommodation for an upcoming shutdown in early February. With no on-contract options available, they turned to the LBP for a fast and efficient solution. The team promptly onboarded Bentley’s Cabin Park in Port Augusta as a supplier, enabling the buyer to engage with them through the LBP portal and ensure seamless, end-to-end procurement. The process was completed quickly, with a Work Instruction raised for 40 cabins over 5 nights, including meals.
The Local Buying Program continues to simplify procurement while driving local economic impact. By providing easy access to trusted suppliers, it enables BHP to streamline processes and support the communities where it operates. The engagement with Bentley’s Cabin Park highlights how the LBP delivers real benefits for both businesses and the broader community. As the program expands into CuSA, more suppliers will have the opportunity to connect with BHP operations, strengthening local supply chains and delivering long-term value.
