Pilbara Panel & Paint was recently awarded a Work Instruction through the Local Buying Program to transport vehicles to Jimblebar after successfully completing the RFQ process. The service required the safe, cost-effective, and timely transport of vehicles from Newman to Jimblebar, ensuring the safety of both BHP employees and the supplier. These vehicles were essential for Emergency Services controlled incident training, making their reliable delivery critical.
When no on-contract options were available, an RFQ was released to Local Buying Program Suppliers, ensuring maximum effectiveness in testing the market. Pilbara Panel & Paint responded with an innovative transport solution, designing a specialised vehicle tailored for remote recoveries and freight services. Their capability now extends beyond vehicle transport to include freight services to remote locations and the relocation of both mobile and non-mobile assets.
By successfully delivering this service, Pilbara Panel & Paint has strengthened its reputation as a reliable, efficient and safe transport partner for BHP. Their innovative approach has helped reduce downtime, improve asset management and open doors to further opportunities within BHP and beyond.
This project highlights the benefits of business growth through diversification and innovation, while also contributing to a stronger, more resilient local supply chain. By leveraging the Local Buying Program, BHP continues to support local businesses in delivering smart, tailored solutions that drive operational efficiency and safety.
