Throughout the integration of BHP, the operation team have looked for opportunities to utilise the Local Buying Program
suppliers as well as existing vendors that may not have previously dealt with BHP, for opportunities at the new Carrapateena
and Prominent Hill sites. The Local Buying Program has enabled suppliers to interface with these new sites. This month, the first work instruction for new BHP Prominent Hill site (formerly Oz Minerals) has been created with the flags ordered through Indigenous supplier, We Create Print Deliver, are now flying at the site.
The Local Buying Program was expanded to two new Copper SA sites at the start of this year, which will now see extended opportunities for local and Indigenous businesses and the community, especially in the Upper Spencer Gulf region.
To ensure continuation of supply, the Local Buying Program worked quickly with BHP and key stakeholders including Tactic to incorporate the new plants and new processes to manage former Oz Minerals Purchase Orders whilst they await full integration with BHP’s systems in October. This ensures continuation of supply opportunities for small, local and Indigenous businesses.
“WCPD have maintained a high quality of product, quick turnaround and a personalised experience when dealing with their representatives. We have been happy to recommend them to new customers across Copper SA.”
