Local Buying Program Suppliers

Local businesses who have an annual turnover of <AUD$10M and a significant physical presence in the state’s eligible regions can register to participate in the Local Buying Program in that state.

Registrations are assessed on an individual basis in alignment with the Local Buying Program eligibility criteria. Once approved, suppliers will have the ability to access and respond to work opportunities (Work Instructions) in their state as they become available.

Buyers (BHP / BMA / BMC)

BHP / BMA / BMC employees can register at any time to use the Local Buying Program for their procurement needs. Buyers will be required to validate their registrations via their BHP email. Once registered, buyers can source goods and services from Local Buying Program suppliers by raising Work Instructions.

Buyers (Tier A Contractors)

Tier A Contractor employees can register at any time to use the Local Buying Program for their procurement needs. Buyers will be required to validate their registrations via their Tier A Contractor email. Once registered, buyers can source goods and services from Local Buying Program suppliers by raising Work Instructions.

SHIRE OF EAST PILBARA: Welcome to Newman 2022 Mine Tour

PLEASE NOTE: As this is a mine site, proof of vaccination must be emailed though to secure your reservation.

The world’s largest single open cut iron ore mine. Discovered in 1957 by veteran prospector Stan Hilditch, the iron ore deposit was named Whaleback because it resembled the shape of a humpback whale.

The Shire of East Pilbara brings to the general public as a part of the Welcome to Newman a BHP Mt. Whaleback Mine Tour. The tour departs from the Newman Visitors Centre at 9:15am on Saturday, 19th February 2022.

The tour last approximately 1.5 hours and passengers are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the tour. Please note that fully enclosed shoes, long sleeved tops to the wrists and long pants to the ankles are essential for the tour. Three quarter sleeves and trousers are not acceptable. We suggest bringing drinking water with you on hot days.
